BUTTER CREAM ICING
2 pounds powdered sugar
1½ cups vegetable shortening
½ cup flour (sift with part of powdered sugar)
½ cup water
2 teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon butter or other flavoring
Sift sugar and flour and then mix all remaining ingredients. Mix well at low speed until smooth. ¼ of icing will cover a 9-inch layer cake.
